Future belongs to IT: Ranjit Chautala
Haryana Power Minister Ranjit Singh Chautala said the success of Chandrayaan-3 has shown a new path to the country. For this, our scientists deserve appreciation. He said that space programmes and technology have brought revolutionary changes to the country. He said that the future belongs to Information Technology (IT). He said that it is amazing that just because of IT we have achieved in five years what we have achieved in 18 years. He was speaking as the chief guest at a regional seminar on 'Impact of Space Programme on Society and Industry' organised by Chandigarh Journalists Association and NUJ-I School of Journalism and Communication here on Sunday. He joined the programme online from Delhi.

He said that space programmes and technology have brought revolutionary changes to the country. He said that the future belongs to Information Technology (IT). He said that it is amazing that just because of IT we have achieved in five years what we have achieved in 18 years. He was speaking as the chief guest at a regional seminar on 'Impact of Space Programme on Society and Industry' organised by Chandigarh Journalists Association and NUJ-I School of Journalism and Communication here on Sunday. The programme was presided over by Panjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Renu Wig. She explained in detail about the Indian space programme. She highlighted ISRO's journey from 'Jugaad' technology to the success of Chandrayaan 3. Vig said that the success of Chandrayaan 3 has put India in the league of top countries. The technology that the country has received from the space programme has opened new avenues of development in every field today. She said that with technology we can accurately predict the weather forecast. Vig said that the most positive impact of the space programme has been on our youth. The success of Chandrayaan has become a source of inspiration for the youth. She also said that the space programme has provided telemedicine, solar pumps, space tourism and more.
New avenues have opened up in aerospace. Referring to industries, she said 75 per cent of the components used in Chandrayaan-3 were supplied from the country's MSME sector. Now India has become a 'Land of Opportunity' due to the space programme and the youth should take advantage of this opportunity, she said
The main speaker of the program was Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Haryana, Mahendragarh. He said "Every child and every student is associated with the Chandrayaan-3 and India's space programme. He said that more and more information should be given to the students and youth about this. "The space programme is in our DNA. He also said that the people benefit directly or indirectly from new innovation. He said that programs are organized in the university to make the youth aware of the space program. He said that today technology is being used at every step from weather forecasting to knowing the route on mobile.
In the technical session, ISRO veteran Dr VS Hegde said that the success of Chandrayaan-3 has put the country in at forefront in space technology in the world. He said that more than 3 million employment opportunities will be available in the space sector. He said technology has made the lives of people in rural areas easier. He said that technology has been an important contributor in TV, healthcare, and navigation in every field today.
Dr Rakesh Kumar of Punjab Engineering College, Dr HS Jattana and Dr Tarun Kumar Jain spoke about the positive effects of the space programme on society and industries. Dr Jattana and Dr Rakesh Kumar gave detailed information about the satellite launch.
Chandigarh Journalists Association president Amarnath Vashisht introduced the guests. NUJ-I president Ashok Malik welcomed the guests and talked about the importance of the topic of the workshop. NUJ-I School of Journalism Mass Communication chairman Jitendra Awasthi briefed the activities of the School.
