Chandigarh, April 22, 2025: The Department of Microbial Biotechnology, Panjab University, organised an inspiring seminar and mentoring session, entitled “Routes to Alternative Careers in Sciences". The event aimed at encouraging students to explore diverse career pathways beyond traditional academic and research roles.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Radhika Trikha, Chief Executive  Officer, AWaDH, IIT Ropar, who offered valuable insights into impactful career opportunities in science policymaking, science diplomacy, intellectual property rights, science journalism, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The event was attended by MSc and PhD students, faculty members, and young researchers. Dr. Trikha, an esteemed alumna of first batch of the department shared her remarkable journey from research to leadership in science policy and innovation. She also engaged in a dedicated mentoring session, where she offered personalised guidance on building purposeful careers that align with both scientific curiosity and societal needs.

Dr. Rachna Singh, Chairperson of the department informed that the seminar is part of the department’s broader vision to bridge academic learning with real-world career opportunities—empowering the next generation of scientists to explore roles well beyond the laboratory bench.
