GANGRAPE IN MOVING CAR: Police arrest 1 accused; 2 others also identified

Ludhiana, March 9, 2015: Police have identified three accused involved in connection with the March 8 gang rape of a lady in the moving car. According to an official information, the accused have been identified as Badal (21) resident of Bhagat Singh Nagar, Dhandra Road, Ludhiana, Sunny (around 25) and Monu alias Mohan (20). Police had already registered a case in connection with the incident of crime under Section 376-D of the IPC at Police Station Sadar on March 8.

Police also told that of the three accused namely Badal had been arrested. A white Maruti car (No.PB-10-0222) in which the crime was committed, belonging to Badal, had also been recovered.

Police said at the time of arrested Badal resisted arrest and attempted to run and jumped following which he suffered a fracture. He has been placed under arrest and medical assistance has been provided.

Further, police said Forensic Experts have been called from Chandigarh for the examination and collection of evidence.

Various police parties have been dispatched to arrest the remaining two accused, police added.

Additional resources from Armed Battalions have been requisitioned and been appropriately deployed to prevent any such occurrence in future, said the official information.
