Gardening and flowers good for keeping fit and for keeping the mood up: Dr Bedi
Says Flowers are a burst of sunshine in our lives – they are a part of food and medicine
SUNDAY SPECIAL
In these otherwise trying and depressing times it is important to take steps to keep fit and also to stay free from an insidious enemy – depression.
Stating this Dr Harinder Singh Bedi – Director Cardio Vascular Sciences at the Ivy Hospital Mohali – told that one must take the lockdown in a positive way.
Taking his own case – he stated that after a long time he has found the time to smell the flowers and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Also, the absence of a paid gardener (maali) is a good excuse to take up gardening – this is a good exercise in itself and seeing flowers and plants responding to love and care is a unique experience in itself.
“Flowers are a burst of sunshine in our lives – they are a part of food and medicine”, he said, adding, “Flowers always make a person feel happier.”
