Ludhiana, May 22, 2024: General Observer for Ludhiana Parliamentary constituency Divya Mittal, IAS, reviewed the security arrangements at the critical polling stations falling under Atam Nagar assembly segment of Ludhiana Parliamentary constituency on Wednesday. Atam Nagar assembly segment is expenditure sensitive segment.
Accompanied by Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) Atam Nagar assembly segment, Paramdeep Singh and Assistant Commissioner (UT) Kritika Goyal, General Observer Divya Mittal inspected the critical polling stations established in Narayana E-techno School, Urban Estate Dugri and Shri Vivekanand Swarg Ashram (old age home) in Model Town Extension.
Divya Mittal enquired about the deployment of security personnel, transportation of EVMs and the facilities for the polling staff/voters in the polling stations. Directions were issued to ensure drinking water/toilet facilities for the voters at the polling stations. She also asked the officials to ensure action against the persons causing vulnerability in the area to maintain law and order.
General observer Divya Mittal also directed the ARO Paramdeep Singh to visit vulnerable pockets in the assembly segment and talk to the residents for building confidence among the voters. The aim is to ensure that people participate in the democratic process without any sort of fear or pressure.
ARO Paramdeep Singh said that working on the directions of District Election Officer (DEO) Sakshi Sawhney, elaborate arrangements are also being at all the polling stations to facilitate the voters. The administration will ensure sheds, fans, lemonade/sweetened water etc. for the voters.
General observer inspects working of SST, issue directions to keep strict vigil:
General Observer Divya Mittal also inspected the working of a Static Surveillance Team (SST) in Gurdev Nagar on Wednesday.
In total, 126 SSTs have been deputed in the distrust (nine in each of the 14 assembly constituencies). These teams have been taking up vehicle checking drive and are assisting to ensure strict enforcement of model code of conduct (MCC) in the district.
Divya Mittal directed the SST team members to ensure keeping a record of the vehicles being checked by them. Also a proper record should be maintained of the things/seizures which are caught during surveillance.
