General observer takes stock of strong rooms in PAU, issues directions to ensure security and smooth election process

Ludhiana, May 16, 2024: General Observer for Ludhiana Parliamentary Constituency, Divya Mittal, IAS, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the post-poll strong rooms established in Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Thursday to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process.
Accompanied by Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) including ARO Ludhiana East Chetan Bunger, ARO Ludhiana Central Ojsavi Alankar, ARO Ludhiana North Ankur Mahindroo, ARO South Inder Pal, ARO Jagraon Gurbir Singh Kohli and ARO Ludhiana West Rupinder Pal Singh and Assistant Commissioner (UT) Kritika Goyal, General Observer Divya Mittal reviewed the arrangements in post-poll strong rooms established in Government Senior Secondary Smart School and Gymnasium Hall (within premises of PAU) among other sites. She inspected the strong rooms of Ludhiana East, Ludhiana North, Ludhiana Central, Ludhiana West, Ludhiana South and Jagraon.
The AROs informed the General Observer that extensive measures were being taken to ensure smooth completion of the election process, including proper barricading, 24X7 surveillance of EVMs through CCTVs, and deployment of security forces.
The General Observer instructed the officers that careful arrangements should be made for the transportation of EVMs. She also emphasized that the entry point of the strong room containing EVMs must be monitoring 24/7 through CCTv cameras. She also instructed the AROs to make some minor infrastructural-related changes in the strong rooms to ensure that the election process is completed smoothly.
