GGN Khalsa College Alumnus Kuleep Singh Kareer presents his poems anthology-‘Natives Returning Homes’ to his Alma Mater

Ludhiana: Kuldeep Ssingh Kareer , a 1968 graduate from the GGN Khalsa College, Ludhiana presented his Covid period poems anthology-‘Natives Returning Homes’ to its Alma Mater. Those who were presented with Kareer’s debut book were Dr S P Singh, President of College Managing Committee and Former VC GNDU University , Nakasdeep Panjkoha -a Punjabi writer from USA, Kuljeet Singh -Managing Committee Member, Dr Arvinder Singh Bhalla, principal of the college, Prof Gurbhajan Gill an old student and former president Punjabi Sahit Academy Manjeet Singh Chhabra,Director of GGN IMT and many a postgraduate Punjabi department teachers .

Describing about this creative work, Kuldeep Singh Kareer told that while he was student from 1965-1968,he acquired interest in literature from Prof. Avtar Singh Sodhi and Prof. Joginder Singh Chhabra. He also remained an active secretary of the college literary club. He got inspired when his first long poem ‘Screen’ was published with images in the college magazine. Though later in his life’s journey and its struggle, he could not write much,but he remained an avid reader. Now in this phase of Corona period, the pains of migratory labourers  forced him to express his sentiments and ‘Natives Returning Homes’ came out as an outcome .He  always dreamt that he should present this anthology of his  poems to his  alma mater  and his dream is fulfilled.

While appreciating the book and the writer, Dr S P Singh said that this college has rich literary heritage even before the partition of the country. Bhai Sahib Bhai Jodh Singh an eminent writer too remained principal of this college. Professor Didar Singh who wrote ‘Kissa Bhagat Singh’  taught in this college before 1947. In the post 1947 period when the college was shifted here, it produced eminent writers like Dr. Ravinder Singh Ravi. Shamsher Singh Sandhu, Gurbhajan Gill, Jaswant Sandeela,Davinder Saikha and many more.

Prof.Gurbhajan Gill who was a special guest of honor said that this book was another valuable addition to college heritage. He described Kuldeep Kareer’s book a path finder in writing for the new generation.

Speaking on behalf of the college, Dr Arvinder Singh Bhalla informed that besides sports, it’s able administration, quality education etc it has  attained promising milestones in its  literary journey through its alumni and  its teachers. Kuldeep Singh Kareer has added a gem to the shining feather of the college further by adding this book.

The Chief Guest and an American citizen S. Nakasdeep Panjkoha also congratulated Kuldeep Singh Kareer’s presenting the book to his college  and its teachers.

On this occasion, on behalf of the college, Dr S P Singh, Principal Dr Arvinder Singh Bhalla and managing committee members especially honored  the chief guest S.Nakasdeep Panjkoha and Prof. Gurbhajan Gill by presenting them with ‘Phulkaaris and Mementos’

Punjabi Department’s  HOD Dr Bhupinder Singh, Sharanjeet Kaur, Dr Gurpreet Singh and Dr Tejinder Kaur also congratulated Kuldeep Singh Kareer on publishing this book and also for being active in the college's  literary pursuits .
