Ludhiana, March 13, 2025: Students of GGN Institute of Management and Technology situated at Ghumar Mandi organised a plantation drive at the campus. The aim was to sensitize students towards 'beauty through greenery". They were made to pledge to save the environment by planting trees and plants, demonstrating a commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability.
The students actively participated in planting activities, contributing to the greening of their surroundings and promoting a sustainable future.
"A little at an individual level is enough," said Dr Harpreet Singh, principal, GGNIMT while sharing the significance of the activity. The students taking the subject of Environment Science as a mandatory part in undergraduate programmes, were given this hands-on practical assignment to grow plants, shrubs, climbers and trees depending upon available space and sunlight, he highlighted. If there is no space for a tree, grow a climber which needs a little lesser space, the students were told.
Prof Manjit Singh Chhabra, director, GGNIMT appreciated the efforts of the students for doing meaningful work. Plants and trees are not for the people living now, but for generations to come, he added. He urged students to keep on repeating the same at the homes and localities too.
