GHG College gets nod to conduct INSPIRE programme for the 5th time

Ludhiana, October 21, 2016: The Department of Science and Technology, has for the fifth consecutive year granted approval to GHG Khalsa College Gurusar Sadhar, to conduct the Inspire Internship Science programme. The college has been sanctioned a grant of Rs 13 Lakhs to provide this free internship to meritorious science students from almost 14 schools of Punjab.
This programme, which aims at promoting and strengthening science and technology among the youth, provides a catalyzing experience for the 11th grade students in science stream. Under the programme, 200 students who are from top 1% of the pool of the meritorious students, are shortlisted for the camp based on their merit in the matriculation examination.
“Renowned Scientists and Fellows of Academics from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Chandigarh would be acting as mentors for the students and conducting different workshops, showing scientific movies, displaying interesting techniques and models to make basic sciences interesting to the participants,” shared Dr. S.S. Deol, Principal of the college and convener of the programme.
“It is a holistic experience for the young inquisitive minds who learn the basic concepts of science alongwith some of the latest developments in the field, in totally different and interesting manner”, opined Dr. Jasbinder Kaur who co-ordinates the who programme in the college.
S. Manjit Singh Gill, President Governing Council of the college, applauded the efforts put in by the Principal and the staff in conducting this programme year after year and helping in spreading the interest of science among the rural youth.
