GHG Khalsa College shine at `Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’
The sports make the personality complete and balancing academics and sports is the need of the hour to remain competitive in the professional world. It was said by Dr. Harpreet Singh, principal GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar while felicitating winners and participating students of the college in recently concluded Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan games. Sports persons of the college won total 22 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medals at block & district level during Khedan Vatan Punjab Diyan games.
Ludhiana, October 6, 2023; The sports make the personality complete and balancing academics and sports is the need of the hour to remain competitive in the professional world. It was said by Dr. Harpreet Singh, principal GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar while felicitating winners and participating students of the college in recently concluded Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan games. Sports persons of the college won total 22 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medals at block & district level during Khedan Vatan Punjab Diyan games.
Harmandeep Singh of B.A I brought Laurels by winning gold medal in long jump & 100 m at block level as well as at district level. Recently, he had also won Silver medal in junior Punjab State Championship held at Sangrur & qualified for North Zone scheduled to be held in Jammu. Similarly, Harmandeep Kaur of B.A Ist also declared champion in javelin & 100 m event and thus qualified for state level. Jashandeep Singh of B.A II also declared champion in 400 M & won silver medal in 200 m for ensuring his participation at state level. In 800 m race, it was turn of Gurkomal Singh of BPEd 1st year to prove his mettle by clinching gold medal. The event of 400 m hurdles could not create any hurdles for making Aryan Saini the first runners up by bagging a silver medal.
The wrestler of the college, Babita (BPEd 2nd year) won silver medal at district level. In a fast emerging martial game, Kick Boxing, a young lad doing 10+2 at GHG Khalsa College Collegiate School Harshveer Singh won silver medal. Similarly, in traditional game of Punjab, Kabaddi, the College team won gold medal in block level & has been selected for Punjab state games.
Not looking behind, the college football team won gold medal in age group of 21 to 30 years at district level and defeated Gujjarwal Football Club in a high voltage match.
Repeating the performance of their football team counterparts, the college hockey team also won gold medal in 21-30 age group at district level & U-21 hockey team won silver medal in a close encounter.
Last but not the least Senior Lab, Technician S. Ranjit Singh, a veteran athlete participated in Khedan Vatan Diyan District level games. He won Gold Medal in 800 M. Earlie, he had won Bronze Medal in 400 m race.
Dr. Harpreet Singh Principal of the college congratulated the players and appreciated the efforts of faculty and coaches of P. G Department of Physical Education for these outstanding achievements. He felicitated Dr. Baljinder Singh, head of the department, Prof Harmeet Singh (Hockey In-charge), Prof. Manpreet Kaur (Football In-charge) and Prof. Karanveer Singh for other games. Dr. Baljinder Singh added that college sports brigade is ready to participate in state level championship of Khedan Vatan Punjab diyan with full enthusiasm which is going to start from 17-22 October 2023 in different venues of Punjab State.
