Chandigarh, April 22, 2205: Government Home Science College, Chandigarh observed Earth Day on April 22, 2025, embracing this year’s global theme, “Our Power, Our Planet.” The campaign advocates for a swift and equitable shift to renewable energy, championing solutions that are inclusive and sustainable for all.
To celebrate the occasion, the college’s ‘Harita’ Environment Society organized a range of engaging competitions including Digital Poster Making and Slogan Writing, designed to ignite creativity and raise awareness about environmental conservation. A vibrant exhibition showcased the students’ artistic expressions and their commitment to protecting the planet.
In the Slogan Writing competition, Jasneet Kaur (B.Sc. FD, 2nd Semester) clinched the First Prize, while Amandeep Kaur (B.Sc. FD, 2nd Semester) secured the Second Prize. In Digital Poster Making, Karishma Sharma (PGDFD, 2nd Semester) was awarded the First Prize. Sukhleen (B.Sc. FD, 2nd Semester) and Teena Sharma (PGDFD, 2nd Semester) shared the Second Prize.
Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, lauded the students for their artistic brilliance and their heartfelt engagement with environmental themes. She emphasized the importance of fostering ecological awareness among youth and noted that such initiatives are essential in cultivating a deep sense of responsibility towards nature.
