GHSC-10 Organized One-Day Workshop on Gond Art
Government Home Science College, Chandigarh organised a one-day workshop on Gond Art on Thursday. This workshop aimed to introduce participants to the traditional Indian art form practiced by the Gond tribe of Madhya Pradesh. The workshop sought to provide insights into the history, techniques, and cultural significance of Gond Art, and offer hands-on experience in creating their own Gond-inspired artwork.
Chandigarh, September 12, 2024: Government Home Science College, Chandigarh organised a one-day workshop on Gond Art on Thursday. This workshop aimed to introduce participants to the traditional Indian art form practiced by the Gond tribe of Madhya Pradesh. The workshop sought to provide insights into the history, techniques, and cultural significance of Gond Art, and offer hands-on experience in creating their own Gond-inspired artwork.
Jyoti, an Artist working with Pidilite, was the facilitator of the workshop. She began with an explanation of the traditional symbols and motifs used in Gond paintings. She also discussed on the significance of Gond Art in preserving tribal heritage. A demonstration on step-by-step process of creating a landscape accessory using Gond Art was given to the students. Participants observed and asked questions about the creative process and tools used in Gond Art.
Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, applauded the efforts of the department of Arts and Resource Management and appreciated the students for their enthusiasm, creativity and efforts during the workshop. She highlighted the workshop's effectiveness in fostering appreciation for traditional art forms and in enhancing artistic skills.
