GHUBAYA, SPENT RS.54.74 LAKH DURING ELECTION CAMPAIGN
TWO INDEPENDENTS SPENT ONLY RS. 12500 EACH Ferozepur, May 22, 2019: The “Sarmaidar” (Affluent) Sukhbir Singh Badal, SAD candidate from Ferozepur spent Rs.57.82 lakh during his election campaign while “Garib” (Poor) Sher Singh Ghubya, the Congress candidate also spent Rs.54.74 Lakh for during his election campaign. It is pertinent to mention here that during the election campaign, Ghubaya had termed Sukhbir as the “Sarmaidar” while himself as “Garib. However during the campaign, Ghubaya spent almost the same amount, as spent by the SAD candidate. Besides Sukhbir and Ghubaya, the other candidates from representing various political parties including AAP Candidate Harjinder Singh Kaka Sran spent Rs. 9.95 lakh, Hans Raj Golden of Punjab Democratic Alliance spent Rs. 17.85 lakh, Jatinnder Singh Thind of SAD (A) spent Rs. 2.95 lakh, Sukhjit Singh of Bhartiya Lok Sewa Dal spent Rs. 1.19 lakh , Madan Lal of Republican Party of India spent Rs. 20602, Balwant Singh of Janaral Samaj Party spent Rs. 63500, Harminder Singh of Samaj Adhikar Kalyan Party spent Rs. 18000 and Naresh Kumar of Hindustan Shakti Sena spent Rs. 71889. Amidst independent candidates, Buta Ram Gulati spent the highest amount (Rs. 1.12 lakh) and the lowest amount of Rs. 12500 was spent by two candidates Satnam Singh and Kashmir Singh. Overall Rs. 1.52 crores were spent by all the candidates during the election campaign. CANDIDATES TOOK “MUSICAL ROUTE” TO ALLURE VOTERS During the election campaign, the candidates took “musical route” to allure voters. While Ghubaya had got a song composed hailing his achievements as two times MP and ridiculing the NDA government in the centre, the SAD also launched a “parody”, a satire on unfulfilled promises made by Capt Amarinder’s government in the state. This especially composed song highlighted ten years of acclaimed achievements of the previous SAD-BJP regime. In addition to that a proffessional theatre group was also hired by SAD to "entertain" audience during all poll meetings to compensate for any delays in arrival of Sukhbir. Ghubaya’s song sung by a “ Dhadhi Jathas” ahead of every “Nukkad” meeting held by Ghubaya. As soon as Ghubaya arrived at the venue, the group of three people immediately leaves for next location. Besides, several vehicles have been pressed into service with PA systems atop to broadcast this song from village to village. OVERALL 112 COMPLAINTS RECEIVED Ranjit Singh Bhullar, Assistant Commissioner said that overall 112 complaints of 22 candidates who were contesting elections were received by Election Commission. He said that most of the complaints were received from the SAD-BJP and Congress workers. “All the complaints have resolved after thoroughly checking the facts”, he added.
