GIAN Workshop at PU
Chandigarh, December 6, 2019: The ongoing international workshop under Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) at Panjab University, Chandigarh on “Issues In Diversity and Difference for Inclusive Education" had an enriching lectures on teacher education and classroom interaction, teaching strategies and evaluation by Prof.Ratna Ghosh, Professor of Education, McGill university Canada. It was followed by a workshop on the theme Unpacking inclusive education through current events. In the concluding session Right to be different- appreciating diversity was discussed by Prof.Ratna Ghosh. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof.Devinder Singh, Department of Laws and Secretary State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), Session Judge Shri Mahavir Singh on 2/12/19. GIAN coordinator Prof. SK Mehta gave an overview of the MHRD scheme which allows the university to invite an expert faculty from a foreign university to give international perspective for the benefit of Indian teachers and researchers. Prof Nandita and Prof. Latika from department of Education are the local coordinators for this course. This is the only course which is not from the faculty of science and technology to be approved by the national committee and apex committee. There are 36 participants comprising of research scholars from BHU, PU and IIT Madras, assistant professors from colleges and Panjab University, director of NIOS regional centre and school teachers attending the course. Prof. S.K. Mehta GIAN coordinator informed that this is the only course approved in social science category.
