For the 4th Time in a Row Starkenn Sports is hosting the MTB National Championships in Pune

Pune, October 17, 2018: Giant Starkenn today announced that the 15th Giant Starkenn MTB National Championships 2018 will be held in Pune from 26th to 28th October. This Championships will be held at Sunny’s World, a luxurious destination spread across 100 acres amidst hills in Pune. This is the 4th consecutive year that Starkenn Sports is bringing this Championships to the city of Pune. The three day event will witness participants under four categories namely Youth (under 14 years), Sub-Junior (15-16 years), Junior (17-18 years) and Elite (above 19 years). This year, Giant Starkenn has received applications from 450 national level racers and the number is expected to grow to 650 by the time the National Championships begins. The roster includes 23 Indian States teams, along with a team from the Indian Army.

Starkenn Sports Pvt. Ltd in association with Cycling Federation of India (CFI) has built a natural 5 kms looped cycling track. In this Championships, the cyclists are expected to cover 500 kms over the mountainous terrain through various categories and races. Additionally, Giant Starkenn will be offering amateur cycling enthusiasts a chance to race on the same track on 28th October where they can win certificates and medals certified by the CFI. The registration for the same is 600/- Rs until 20th October and 850/- Rs after the 20th of October.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Pravin V Patil, Managing Director and CEO, Starkenn Sports Pvt Ltd said, “We are very proud and happy to host the MTB National Championships for the 4th time in a row. This year, as done in the previous three years, the track features have been progressively increased, hence will test, endurance and the technicals skills of all participants. Participation has grown every year and the preparation put in by athletes for the MTB Nationals is testament to the growing focus on the sport. The amount of talent and hard work that we see here is unmatchable. At Starkenn we are committed to grow the cycling culture in India and want to promote cycling at the grass root level. As far as our Maharashtra Cycling Team is concerned, we are their equipment partner and are ready to support them. We aim to continue our association with MTB National Championships to create a cycling destination, which can attract talent from across the globe. In near future, we plan to host Asian level MTB cycling tournaments in India.”

Mr. Pratap Jadhav, Organizing Secretary and Treasurer, Cycling federation of India (CFI) MTB National Championships said, “I am very proud to be a part of the MTB Championships 2018.
