Girls Basketball Tournament of DPS Teams of three states begins

Jalandhar, November 7, 2024: Junior Girls Basketball Tournament has began at Delhi Public School in Jalandhar.

6 teams are participating in the Junior Girls Basketball Tournament. Two teams are from Haryana and one team is from Himachal Pradesh. The program started with the introduction of the teams and the oath ceremony of the players. 
 
Tournament started with the flag hoisting and releasing of tricolor balloons in the sky. DPS teachers, students, Army instructors, coaches and referees attended the inaugural ceremony. The little students of DPS presented entertaining cultural programs in which Punjabi Gidda was the center of attraction. Before the game started, photographs were taken with the players of all the different teams. The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony was Colonel Vinod Joshi, Commanding Officer 2 Punjab NCC Battalion. 
 
Colonel Joshi said in his address that basketball started in India in 1904 from Madras. Basketball game enhances physical endurance, team spirit, intellectual and physical skills. Basketball makes the player active, intensifies activities with team spirit which also helps the student in academics. He thanked Principal Ritu Kol for inviting the Indian Army in the basketball tournament. The program concluded with the national anthem.
