Cong promises 100 % relief in water tariff, property tax
Chandigarh, December 21, 2021: While urging to vote and support Congress party in MC poll, Netta D'Souza, All India Mahila Congress acting president has called upon the city women to give the city in safe hands this time.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan, sector 35 here on Tuesday, she said that Chandigarh city which used to be known for its beautiful landscape and learned populace is now leading the country in crime against women.
As per National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) data the crime rate against women reported in Chandigarh has gone up disturbingly high in recent years with NCRB-2020 report stating that Chandigarh has the highest rate of rape cases in the country. As per the latest report 75% of such victims consisted of minor girls, she asserted.
Urging women to vote for the Congress, she urged that a victory of Congress could lead to reduction in taxes.
She charged the local BJP of misappropriating Rs 28 crores collected as Covid cess from the people and Rs 200 crores received from central government as aid for Covid victims. The city people are reeling under heavy burden of taxes. The water taxes have been increased 3 times.
After winning the MC poll, the Congress will give a relief of about 150 crore in taxes to the people of Chandigarh. She urged the women of the city to vote for the Congress candidates to make Chandigarh a safe place for women in the city.
Criticizing the local BJP further, she said that the city people are reeling under heavy burden of taxes. The water taxes have been increased 3 times, which will be reduced once the Mayor from the Congress party is elected.
Subhash Chawla, president Chandigarh Congress lambasted local BJP for putting the people of Chandigarh under heavy burden of taxes even when they were facing hardships due to the Covid pandemic.
He said that if Congress wins Municipal elections, the party will give 100 % relief in water tariff and property tax charged from them during the entire duration of lockdown. The relief applies to all sections of Chandigarh residents. The amount charged during the lockdown shall be adjusted in the next bill and a resolution to this effect shall be passed in the very first meeting of the next Corporation.
Alka Lamba, national spokesperson of the party criticized the BJP for unbriddled inflation, which is climbing at 14.23 %. While the people are suffering severe hardships due to mismanagement of the economy, PM Modi has spent more than Rs, 5000 cr on his own publicity.
Abhishek Dutt, coordinator AICC criticized the mess created in the area of Health care by the AAP government in Delhi. Quoting just one example, 16 children were taken severely ill because they were given banned medicines in a Delhi government hospital. Three children died due to drug reaction on December 7 but the Delhi government hid the news as it would have given bad publicity to him in election camping in Chandigarh.
Meanwhile during the occasion, Congress leaders displayed the costly vegetables and LPG cylinders to highlight the plight of women, whose kitchen budget is causing them unbearable hardships.
