Talwandi Sabo, November 9, 2014: Taking cognizance of gross negligence on the part of mess contractor of Himalaya Hostel in the Campus of Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo, where about 8 students started vomiting after taking dinner on the night of November 8, the Vice-Chancellor has cancelled the contract with the Mess Contractor. A complaint against him has also been lodged with the S.H.O Talwandi Sabo. Hostel Warden has been placed under suspension with immediate effect.
The Vice–Chancellor appreciated the role of senior officers of GKU who, without waiting any time, immediately took the affected students to a hospital at Talwandi Sabo and therefore eight students to a hospital at Bathinda. It is because of this prompt action that all the eight students were discharged on 9th Nov. in the morning and are perfectly well now.
The Vice-Chancellor also expressed its gratitude for District administration, Police authorities and Medical officers of civil hospital for their timely help.
The Vice-Chancellor also assured that such incidents will not be allowed to re-occur and required precautions have since been taken.
