GLADA’s action against unauthorised colony

Ludhiana, March 12, 2024: In compliance of demolition orders issued by Additional Chief Administrator, GLADA-cum-Competent Authority Ojasvi, against an unauthorised colony, Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Naib Tehsildar, Ludhiana as Duty Magistrate, police force and enforcement team of GLADA went for its demolition today. 

Having taken advantage of having a licensed colony-Canal View Enclave, Village Brahman Majra in its very close vicinity, the violator had developed land into an unauthorisd colony by taking illegal/unauthorised access from the said Licenced/approved Colony. The canal view enclave colony abuts on right side of Canal Road (Ludhiana-Doraha Scheduled Road).

However, the said demolition drive was strongly opposed by the public present over there at the site under reference on account of their recently applied NoCs for their Plots/Buildings. Prayers were made to consider their representation despite the failure of violating colonizer/or the plot owners to present their case against notices served by GLADA earlier under the provisions of PAPRA Act.

Whereas the said applications were being considered, in public interest, for the time being, a partial demolition was under taken by GLADA for stalling the unauthorised growth, without due permission from GLADA. However, further action shall be taken against the said unauthorised colony as per the provisions of PAPRA Act after scrutinising their said applications.

Criminal action against the coloniser is already underway and it is appealed to the public to avoid obstruction in government action, failing which legal action shall be initiated against the violators.

The Chief Administrator, GLADA, appealed to general public not to purchase property/plots/buildings in unauthorised colonies as GLADA will not provide any facility like water supply, sewerage, electricity connections, street lights etc. The list of approved and regularized colonies along with their sanctioned maps is available on the Official Website of GLADA, which may be checked by the prospective buyers before buying any property.

GLADA Additional Chief Administrator said besides undertaking a demolition campaign, GLADA had also recommended to the concerned Tehsildars for not registering plots in these unauthorised colonies, besides filing FIRs against the developers of unauthorised colonies in Ludhiana district.
