Hyderabad, April 4, 2022: Gleneagles Global Hospitals (GGH) today announced that it had set up an information center in Bangladesh. This is the first such center to be opened up in Bangladesh by GGH India. This Information Centre would serve as a reference point for the patients of Bangladesh who wish to get themselves treated for various ailments.
Dr. Riyaz Khan, Cluster CEO – Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Hyderabad said, “A huge majority of medical tourists — 54.3% — who visited India last year were from Bangladesh, followed by 9% from Iraq, 8% from Afghanistan, 6% from the Maldives and 4.5% from a group of African nations, data released by the Union tourism ministry in July 2021 shows. Given such huge numbers, we realized the need for setting up a center to help the citizens of Bangladesh get access to quality healthcare”.
Mr. Gaurav Khurana, CEO – Gleneagles Global Hospitals, Lakdi-Ka-Pul, Hyderabad said, “The information center will not only provide teleconsultation but will also provide the visiting patients with booking of priority appointments, access to free second opinion with the doctors, airline ticketing and visa assistance as well. In essence, this center will act as a one-stop-shop and provide all necessary assistance to the needy patients in one place”.
The country's advanced facilities, skilled doctors, and low-cost treatment make India an ideal destination for medical tourists. Aside from modern medical practices, India has also promoted traditional practices such as Yoga and Ayurveda that promote overall wellbeing and health. Another major factor that makes India a desirable medical tourism destination is the fact that it has English-speaking doctors, reducing the language barrier for foreign tourists.
