Global Media and Information Literacy Week 

The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organized an event as part of the Global Media and Information Literacy (GMIL) Week. Global Media and Information Literacy Week is an annual event observed from 24th to 31st October to raise awareness and celebrate the progress achieved towards Media and Information Literacy for all.

Global Media and Information Literacy Week 

Chandigarh, October 24, 2024: The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organized an event as part of the Global Media and Information Literacy (GMIL) Week. Global Media and Information Literacy Week is an annual event observed from 24th to 31st October to raise awareness and celebrate the progress achieved towards Media and Information Literacy for all.
 
The event was hosted by Mayurakshi, Junior Research Fellow of the department. Mayurakshi gave an overview of the topic and explained the history and examples of media and information literacy. Shubham Mishra, another Junior Research Fellow of the department explained the current theme of Media and Information Literacy (MIL)Week for the year 2024-‘The new digital frontiers of information: Media and information literacy for public-interest information’.
 
The faculty members expressed their views on the topic and answered the queries of students. The session was quite interactive and the students actively participated in the discussion. A poster making competition was also organized by the department on the same theme.
 
Around 12 posters were made by enthusiastic students of Bachelors of Library and Information Science (B.Lib.I.Sc.) and Masters of Library and Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc.) on the theme.
