GNA University Organised National Science Day
Faculty of Natural Sciences of GNA University in collaboration with DST, NCSTC & DST organised National Science Day on the theme “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”. The sole objective behind the event was to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Dr C.V. Raman (Nobel Prize in Physics).
Jalandhar, March 1, 2023: Faculty of Natural Sciences of GNA University in collaboration with DST, NCSTC & DST organised National Science Day on the theme “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”. The sole objective behind the event was to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Dr C.V. Raman (Nobel Prize in Physics).
In this event, more than 200 students registered and participated from the University and the other institutions, with great enthusiasm. The occasion witnessed various events like quiz competition, poster presentation, model exhibition, science rangoli competition and science movie show. In the quiz competition, more than 160 students participated and attempted the quiz. After three rounds of competition, winners were declared as Sumit Kumar and Tarun Kumar (First Prize), Seeya Janjua and Vivek Saini (Second Prize), Rahul Kumar and Rahul (Third Prize). In the poster presentations, 23 students presented their ideas and solution for global issues and challenges and winners of these events were Komal Sharma (First Prize), Dilpreet Kaur (Second Prize) and Muskan, Mehak thakur (Third Prize).
In the model exhibition, 18 students participated and presented the current need of technologies for global development and winners for the events were Garvit and Himashu (First Prize), Labhesh Phul and Jasmeet Kaur (Second Prize), Dinesh and Abhishek (Third Prize). In the Science Rangoli competition, 32 students presented the importance of national science day with different attractive pictures and winners were Ravneet Kaur and Pooja Sandhu (First Prize), Kashish and Tanishka (Second Prize), Gagandeep Kaur and Priyanka (Third Prize).
In the Science Movie showcase, Sci-fi movie Interstellar was displayed among more than 300 students in the auditorium where they developed the importance of sciences and technologies in the human life. At the end of the event, prize distribution function was facilitated in the presence of worthy Pro Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Hemant Sharma and worthy Dean Academics Dr. Monika Hanspal, who distributed the trophies and certificates to the winners of the events and congratulated them for their achievements.
Gurdeep Singh Sihra, the Pro-Chancellor, GNA University expressed, “I appreciate the endeavours of the Department for organising such events which gives them a real time inspiration.”
Dr. VK Rattan, the Vice-Chancellor, GNA University said, “The University is always ready to offer the best to our GUites in all the various upcoming activities and industrial visits.”
Dr. Monika Hanspal, Dean Academics, GNA University said, “I am really happy to witness the active participation of the students and enthusiasm at the end of the faculty for organising such events.”
Yogesh Bhalla, HOD, Faculty of Natural Sciences expressed his thanks to the faculty in taking painstaking efforts in rendering exposure to the students. Dr. Rishi Kant and Shahnaz Kossar were the coordinators who took the leap for organising the event.
The event delivered a message about the importance of science in daily life, discussed current issues in the field of science, and encouraged youth to popularise science and technology to seek novel solution.
