Guwahati: Over 10 million individuals in northeast India lack access to affordable, quality healthcare services and bridging this gap through appropriate healthcare services would result in a healthier population and a robust economy.
Fulfilling this pressing need requires a multi-dimensional effort encompassing educating various sections of society, continuous advocacy, concerted actions and societal collaboration. As an initiative to pursue the multi-dimensional objective, Dr Nomal Chandra Borah designed a unique healthcare model named as GNRC Medical.
On completion of the fourth year of operation on February 13, Dr Madhurjya Borah, CEO of the hospital presented the progress report at GNRC Medical Campus in North Guwahati and reiterated its commitment towards their guiding principle – Health for All, Smiles for All.
“Affordable quality healthcare is the pillar of a healthy economy and is central to preventing epidemics, improving women & children’s health and managing the rising burden of non-communicable diseases such as heart & neurological conditions,” said Dr Madhurjya adding that lack of affordable quality healthcare causes over 60 million Indians to slide into poverty every year.
He highlighted that over six lakh outpatients had visited GNRC since 2014 and over sixty thousand patients were admitted. Over thirty thousand individuals were benefitted from the 24 hour free healthcare services and over three million diagnostic procedures were carried out at GNRC Medical, added Dr Madhurjya.
The program was also addressed by Dr Manoj Agarwala, medical superintendent of GNRC Medical and Gautam Rajkhowa, deputy hospital superintendent where they informed that GNRC Medical as an institution under affordable health mission pledged to serve the society and the nation with all their commitment.
