Godrej Interio expands its ergonomic office furniture range; launches ‘Move Up’

Mumbai, February 22, 2022: Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group, announced that its business Godrej Interio, India’s leading furniture solutions brand, in home and institutional segments, today launched their latest innovation in ergonomic office desks - ‘Move Up’. Adding to its ergonomic range of institutional furniture, Godrej Interio underscores the importance of sit-to-stand concept. This desk is enabled with technology that promotes alternating postures to ease the stress associated with sedentary working styles.
The study ‘It’s Time to Switch’ by Godrej Interio’s Workplace and Ergonomics Research Cell surveyed over 500 individuals to understand the challenges that they faced and the strategies they adopted to deal with issues associated with sitting for long hours at work. It revealed that 64% of employees sit for more than 9 hours a day at work. When the respondents were asked what they could do differently, 73% employees did not know while only 27% had said that they had tried standing as an alternative posture. The fundamental cause of these problems is the long hours that users spend seated in static postures at their work desks or in meetings. Long-term sitting can cause strain and serious musculoskeletal problems, whereas standing for long periods is equally harmful.
Switching between standing and sitting postures reduce physical stress from static postures. This helps increase productivity and keeps the body active through the day. Hence, based on the insights of this whitepaper, Godrej Interio designed and launched the unique desk “Move Up” incorporating inclusive design for easy adjustability. It recognizes the uniqueness of each person and facilitates fluid transitions between working positions through the use of its very own app. The app indicates the duration of time the user spends sitting or standing and triggers action accordingly while enabling the motion of the desk.
