Golden Arrow Division organises Special Welfare Meet

Ferozepur, April 5, 2016: In order to strengthen the emotional bonding between the army and the family members of late veterans on Indian Army, a Special Welfare Meet was organised by Golden Arrow Division today.
In an impressive and emotional ceremony at Mamdot Hall in Ferozepur Cantonment area, more than 300 wives of late veterans of Indian army participated in this “Milap” programme from five districts including Ferozepur, Moga, Muktsar, Taran Taran and Kapurthala.
On this occasion, Lieutenant General J S Cheema, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps and Mrs. Anupvir Kaur Cheema, Zonal President Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) interacted with some of the invitees and listened to their grievances. The invitees were provided opportunity to bring out their problems pertaining to health, pension etc. To ensure the same, representatives from concerned offices like Zila Sainik Board, Records of PUNJAB SIKH, Sikh LI Regiment, State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and DPDO were also made available to make note of the same and to expedite pending issues.
Speaking on this occasion, Let. General Cheema said that we all are a big family and if there are any certain problems in our system, it is our duty to resolve them. He further said that there are number of welfare schemes available for army personnel and their families including their recruitment, marriage of children, education and health.
In the end, all the wives of late veterans of Indian Army were facilitated by Lieutenant General and Mrs. JS Cheema by presenting them with gifts including hearing aids, wheel chairs, walking sticks and other.
On this occasion Major General Vijay Pingale, General Officer Commanding, Golden Arrow Division and Mrs. Neeta Pingale, Chairperson, Golden Arrow Family welfare Organization were also present.
A powerpoint presentation depicting the various welfare schemes was also displayed in Punjabi language.
Dyal Kaur (74) and Charan Kaur (72) of Village Asal Uthar, said that they were happy to be here. Especially with regard to the taking care of them in the absence of late veterans of Indian Army.
