Goldfish, starring Deepti Naval and Kalki Koechlin, hosts special screening for Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society Of India (ARDSI)
Splendid Films today hosted a special screening at SCM Sophia for the families and the community of the Alzheimer's & Related Disorders Society Of India (ARDSI), for their upcoming film Goldfish, which deals with the subject of Dementia.
Splendid Films' Goldfish is all set to release in theaters worldwide. Ahead of the release of their critically acclaimed film (that has already established its marksmanship for being a heartening narrative that portrays a sensitive story with utmost brilliance); the team of Goldfish today hosted a special screening for the family of Alzheimer's & Related Disorders Society Of India. ARDSI Mumbai Chapter activities include spreading more awareness of this neuro-disorder by holding talks at all levels of society, educational institutions, service sectors and corporates to reduce social stigma and make it an inclusive society.
Talking about the initiative of hosting a special screening for the ARDSI family, Kalki Koechlin said, “Disorders like Dementia and Alzheimer’s are not easy to fight. It consumes a person and makes them forget their identity; in such cases, it is especially tough for the caregivers as they end up living two separate lives. Goldfish is a movie that displays this type of a conundrum that a mother-daughter face in this kind of a situation. The film is a raw and emotional portrayal of a very sensitive situation. Splendid Films has taken a heart-touching initiative by holding a special screening for the ARDSI family. We hope that we are able to contribute a little bit and bring a smile to every person's face who's watching this movie today"
Deepti, who gracefully essays the role of Sadhana Tripathi in the movie shared, “When it comes to portraying the character in the film, the sentiments are almost the same when it comes to the mother-daughter equation in reel and real life. The relatability with the role in Goldfish came from my own lived experiences with my mother who had Alzheimer’s for many years before she passed away. I saw her go down that route and It was painful to see someone that brilliant, articulate and so in command of her life. As much as the film seems about dementia and caregiving of elderly in society, I rather look at the film about an estranged mother-daughter relationship who start off on the wrong foot but gradually reconcile in the face of challenges.”
Dr. Vidya Shenoy, Integrative Therapist and Dementia Care Specialist is an Hon. Secretary of ARDSI Mumbai Chapter, talking about the collaboration with Goldfish, she says, “With September, World Alzheimer’s Month, round the corner, it is a great privilege to have been chosen to collaborate with Team ‘Goldfish’ to raise awareness about dementia. The film with an impressive star cast highlights not only the many challenges of someone having dementia but the family having a PwDem who then becomes a fulcrum of their existence after diagnosis. These movies make society more vigilant about the ageing process and how, as an Integrative Therapist I feel, it is important for all to start living a healthy lifestyle to defer onset of comorbidities and in particular dementia that has no cure.”
Following its debut at some of the most prominent international film festivals across the globe; Anurag Kashyap is presenting this touching drama starring Kalki Koechlin, Deepti Naval, and Rajit Kapur. The critically acclaimed film is directed by Pushan Kripalani and produced by Amit Saxena.
The movie marks the return of the talented actress Kalki Koechlin to the theaters after 4 years.
