CHANDIGARH, JUNE 14, 2019: A step towards implementation of Digital Punjab Project, a workshop on Enterprise Architecture (The Open Group Architecture Framework-TOGAF) was organized by Department of Governance Reforms (DoGR) on Thursday at Punjab Bhawan here under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh along with all the Administrative Secretaries and HoDs with a vision to adopting the holistic framework, named IndEA (India Enterprise Architecture) in order to bring transparency, efficiency, accountability and accessibility across the Line Departments.

The Department of Governance Reforms (DoGR) had invited Dr. Pallab Saha, Chief Architect, The Open Group & President, Association of Enterprise Architects (India) to familiarize the officers with The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) and provide a forum to exchange views on enterprise architecture developments in the state.

On the occasion, a detailed presentation was made by Dr. Saha on The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) & IndEA to understand the roles of Administrative Secretaries and HoD of Line Departments. The workshop included a mix of lectures, technical sessions, and case studies through interaction with the participants on Enterprise Architecture framework. Discussions revolved around collaboration on public issues; building enterprise networks; reforming departments, optimizing the e-governance that will help for adhering Enterprise Standards and achieving goal Digital Punjab.

The workshop focused on adopting the framework IndEA which has been notified by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, GoI, for streamlining, standardizing and optimizing the e-governance efforts across the Punjab state.

In addition, it helped clarify the role of the staff in helping to plan and implement IndEA framework. The event was provided an opportunity to discuss concerns and suggestions by the attendees. Participants welcomed the opportunity to exchange views on workshop, strategies with Dr. Pallab Saha invited to give presentation on the subject from The Open Group.

The Chief Secretary said that this workshop has helped all the departments to integrate the systems which are working in silos as of now. Special focus shall be given to Business process Reengineering of citizen services to ease the life of citizens.

Ms. Seema Jain, Principal Secretary, Governance Reforms informed that Departments is in process of development of Micro services which will be re-usable by all departments. In first phase, 132 services of various departments shall be computerized which will ease the life of citizens.
