Government approves university for Ferozepur: MLA Pinki
Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Technical College to be upgraded as Government University
Ferozepur: In another major development for the border district, The Punjab Government has given its 'in- principal' approval for the setting up of university in Ferozepur.
Divulging the details, Parminder Singh Pinki, MLA, Ferozepur Urban Constituency said that the preparations were in full swing to upgrade the campus of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Technical College on the lines of university campus for last few months and now the day is not far away when the dream would become reality soon.
He said that the college has been spread on 115- acre and has requisite infrastructure as needed for the university campus.
He added that the university would have skill development, Cosmetology degree or diploma courses along with traditional streams at Bachelor and Master levels.
He told that the decision has been taken by Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh in the field of education. Pinki said that the Punjab government has constituted a committee to set up a University in Ferozepur.
MLA Pinki said that with operation of this university, the educational facilities in the district would attain new heights besides would offer ample employment opportunities to the people of this border town. It will further boost investment in the city, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that PGI project at a cost of about Rs.500 crore has been brought in Ferozepur for which the tendering process has started.
The construction of PGI will start here soon in the coming days, he told. Notably, the MLA Parminder Singh Pinki has got this dream project sanctioned even during Covid-19 pandemic which reflects his commitment to the holistic development of this border town.
