Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, Concludes Successful Week-long Placement Drive from April 3rd-April 7th, 2025

Chandigarh: The Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, recently conducted a highly successful week-long placement drive from April 3-April 7th 2025, drawing participation from a wide range of reputed organizations across multiple streams. The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation, with over 400 students from various departments registering for placement and internship opportunities.
The placement drive was planned to bridge the gap between academia and industry, and to offer meaningful employment opportunities to students across diverse disciplines.
In the Foods and Nutrition Department, some of the country’s most renowned organizations such as Nestlé, Fortis Hospital, Fitwiser, Health Direct Nutriva, Classic Fitness Academy, and Santushti Clinic participated actively in the recruitment process. These organizations conducted detailed pre-placement talks, during which they introduced their companies, shared their growth journeys, and offered valuable insights on the skill sets and qualities required to be a successful professional in the health and wellness industry.
A total of 6 students from the Foods and Nutrition Department were offered jobs on the spot, while 30 others were shortlisted for further recruitment rounds. The emphasis was not only on recruitment but also on educating students about professional expectations, career paths, and industry standards.
The Clothing and Textiles Department also garnered significant interest from reputed firms. Participating agencies included Active Clothing, Albesier, Pehrawa Boutique, Jaipur Textures, Loomify Industries, Fabbat Boutique, and Mehar Baba Charitable Trust. These organizations conducted interviews and engaged with the students to assess their skills and potential. As a result, 10 students received direct job offers, and in a commendable move to nurture young talent, all diploma students of Fashion Designing were offered internship opportunities by participating companies, further enhancing their practical exposure.
In the Department of Human Development, the placement cell brought in a diverse set of recruiters including Sifaas Foundation, Bachpan NGO, Expert Education, IDP Consultants, ICICI Bank, National Association for the Blind, NIPSIT, and SCERT. These agencies sensitized students through pre-placement talks focused on organizational expectations, career development, and the importance of soft skills. The drive resulted in internship offers for 45 students, and over 10 students were selected for the role of educational counsellors, showcasing the department’s strength in preparing students for impactful roles in education and social services.
Dr. Sudha Katyal, Principal of the college, congratulated the Innovation Entrepreneurship and Placement (IEP) cell for meticulously planning and executing a productive and diverse placement week. She emphasized the importance of such initiatives in shaping students' futures and encouraged all students to actively participate in upcoming drives and industry engagements.
She remarked, “Our students are the torchbearers of excellence in home science, and we are proud to see them take confident steps into the professional world. These opportunities allow them to explore, grow, and contribute meaningfully to society.”
