Government is committed to make Punjab a hub of Sports- Minister Balbir Singh
Dr. Balbir Singh, Health & Family Welfare, Medical Education & Research and Elections Minister, Punjab today said that massive efforts were being made by Punjab government to develop sporting culture in the state and nurturing youth from the playfield to the podium.
Samrala (Ludhiana) July 27, 2023: Dr. Balbir Singh, Health & Family Welfare, Medical Education & Research and Elections Minister, Punjab today said that massive efforts were being made by Punjab government to develop sporting culture in the state and nurturing youth from the playfield to the podium.
Presding over a Badminton Sub-Junior State Championship in Samrala organized by local Riat Badminton Academy, Dr Balbir Singh said that the state government was committed to realise the dreams of our freedom fighters and make a 'Rangla Punjab'. He said that there was no dearth of talent in the state but the need of hour was that the players need better infrastructure and facilities which is being ensured by the state government. He said that by engaging the youths in the sports, the problem of drug menace and mobile addiction among youths can also be eliminated from the state.
Citing revolutionary changes in health sector including opening of Aam Aadmi Clinics, free lab tests and medicines, world-class infrastructure of government hospitals recruitment of specialists, doctors and paramedics and others, the Health Minister said that Punjab had been moving at unprecedented speed towards development under leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann. He also spoke about efforts of government in the rescue operations carried out in recent floods.
The Minister later distributed prizes among winners and runner-ups. He also lauded Riat Badminton Academy for the promotion of the game among the youth by holiding the championship. The Minister also announced Rs 5 lakh for the academy from his discretionary funds besides deployment of additional doctors in local government hospital.
MLA Jagtar Singh Dyalpura, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik, Civil Surgeon Dr Hatinder Kaur, SDM Kuldeep Bawa, BKU leader Balbir Singh Rajewal and others were also present on the occasion.
