Government to study causes of delay in completion of infrastructure projects- PWD Minister
Will Ensure Safer Road Infrastructure for the Public on State
Nawanshahr, June 5, 2022: Public Works and Power Minister, Harbhajan Singh ETO on Sunday said that Punjab Government would examine the factors leading to unnecessary delay in completion of infrastructure projects in the state.
Accompanied by Balachaur MLA Smt. Santosh Kumari Kataria, Senior AAP Leader Lalit Mohan Pathak, District Pressident Shivkaran Chechi, PWD Minister said that ITI in Sahiba (Balachaur) was to be completed by May 2021 but it is already running behind schedule of more than one year. He said that the study would help to make better policy to ensure no bottleneck hits the projects and these can be completed within stipulated timeframe.
He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government is committed to provide safer road infrastructure to the public and the department of Public Works Officials have already been given the task to given priority to the work. He said that the works being undertaken of roads and buildings in the state by the PWD would adhere to quality control strictly and all the officails have been asked to taken care of the quality.
However, the Minister said that the state government would soon release funds worth Rs 5.53 crore for completing ongoing construction works in Government College Jadla, Government Senior Secondary School Nawashahr and ITI Sahiba.
He took stock of the construction of Multipurpose Hall in Jadla government college and said that 95-percent construction has already been completed. He said that the pending amount of Rs 1.10 crore would be released soon to ensure uninterrupted construction of rest of the work.
The Minister also announced that the possibility of starting science block in the government college would be taken up with the Higher Education Department and said with the starting of science stream here, the strength of students would increase in the college and youth of Nawanshahr would not have need to go other private colleges to get higher education in Science stream.
On being informed about pending construction works in Nawanshahr's Government Senior Secondary School by the AAP leader Lalit Mohan, he said that government would soon clear the remaining grants of Rs 4.43 crore for school and ITI Sahiba.
He reiterated the commitment of AAP-led government in revamping educational infrastructure in the state and said it would leave no stone unturned to provide top class infrastructure in government colleges and schools.
On being raised a demand of setting up of already approved Power Grid Station in Chandiani Khurd village of Balachaur by MLA Santosh Kataria, Power Minister assured to kickstart the work shortly.
Harbhajan Singh ETO also asked the officials, Superintendent Engineer PWD Vishal Gupta, Executive Engineer BS Tuli to ensure timely-completion of works as soon as funds released by government in the coming days. He said the road infrastructure of the state would also be strengthened to give smooth ride to the commuters.
Earlier, the Minister was also given guard of honour by the Nawanshahr Police on reaching the college.
Earlier PWD Minister also paid floral tributes to late Shanti Devi, the mother of DETC Jalandhar Paramjit Singh during her Bhog and antim ardas in Nawanshahr's Sahabpur village. Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family, the Minister prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to the family to bear this huge loss.
