Governor Bandaru Dattatreya launches Mega- plantation drive in MDU
A Mega- plantation drive on the theme ‘EK PED, MAA KE NAAM’ was launched by Governor of Haryana and Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Bandaru Dattatreya today in Maharshi Dayanand University by planting a sapling. Governor- Chancellor Bandaru Dattatreya also inaugurated the newly constructed Sardar Vallabbhai Patel Cricket Stadium of the University.
Rohtak, August 9, 2024. A Mega- plantation drive on the theme ‘EK PED, MAA KE NAAM’ was launched by Governor of Haryana and Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Bandaru Dattatreya today in Maharshi Dayanand University by planting a sapling. Governor- Chancellor Bandaru Dattatreya also inaugurated the newly constructed Sardar Vallabbhai Patel Cricket Stadium of the University.
Finance Minister of Haryana J. P. Dalal and Former Minister of Haryana Manish Grover , Guest(s) of Honour in this programme, also planted saplings as part of the mega plantation drive.
Governor-Chancellor Bandaru Dattatraya said that environmental conservation and plantation is the need of the hour. He said that the plantation programme EK PED MAA KE NAAM initiated by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is the inspiration for the citizens to connect with Mother Nature. He lauded the mega plantation drive initiated by MDU.
Governor- Chancellor Bandaru Dattatreya released a coffee- table book “Symphony of the Wild” on the occasion. The Environment Sustainability Management Cell of the university has prepared this coffee table book highlighting the birds and wild life on MDU campus.
Governor-Chancellor Bandaru Dattatraya inaugurated the newly constructed Cricket Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Cricket Stadium of the University, incorporating a modern Cricket Pavilion. Notably, it has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rupees 7.5 Crore. This stadium with excellent facilities would facilitate holding of national-international level cricket matches.
MDU Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh said that MDU intends to plant one lac saplings as part of this mega plantation drive in University campus, 236 affiliated colleges as well as the five near-by adopted villages(under University Outreach Programme. He expressed gratitude of Governor-Chancellor Bandaru Dattatraya, Finance Minister J.P.Dalal, former Minister Manish Grover for blessing the mega plantation drive of MDU.
NSS and YRC volunteers, NCC cadets, Green Volunteer Scheme volunteers actively took part in the plantation drive.
