Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla highlights vision for India’s education transformation at Central University Foundation Day

Dharamshala, January 21, 2025: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, speaking as the Chief Guest at the Foundation Day celebrations of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh, emphasised that the National Education Policy (NEP) will bring transformative changes to India’s education system. He underlined the need for its systematic and phased implementation to ensure its success.

Highlighting the significance of India's rich knowledge traditions, the Governor commended the University’s efforts to promote this heritage through the introduction of a new course. “Over the years, the Central University has achieved significant milestones in education. It must now establish itself as a research-driven hub of quality education, aligned with the vision of a developed India by 2047 and global standards,” he said.

Welcoming the Governor, Vice Chancellor Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal presented an overview of the University’s achievements. Reflecting on its 14-year journey, he called for introspection on the institution’s progress towards its foundational goals. Prof. Bansal also announced the upcoming commencement of the University’s operations from its Dehra campus starting the next academic session.

In a proud moment for the institution, Prof. Bansal highlighted the University’s attainment of an 'A Plus' grade in the NAAC accreditation, describing it as a collective achievement.

The event was graced by eminent academicians, including Prof. Neelima Gupta, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Harisingh Gour University, Sagar; Prof. R.P. Tiwari, Vice Chancellor of Punjab Central University, Bathinda; Prof. Nagesh Thakur, NAAC Executive Member; and Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Y.S. Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University, Solan.

To honor academic excellence, the Governor presented the Best Teacher Awards to Prof. Sanjit, Prof. O.S.K.S. Shastri, Prof. B.C. Chauhan, Dr. Rakesh, and Dr. Manpreet Arora. Non-teaching staff members Anupam Thakur, Rahul, Apurti Awasthi, Rohit Dhiman, Hindbhushan Kutlehariya, and Ajay Kumar were also recognized for their contributions.
