Govt should make field surveys and take other measures to enhance Direct Tax collection: Juneja

Ludhiana, June 20, 2024: Ashok Kumar Juneja, Chairman, Punjab Tax Bar Association, said here on Thursday that as per Income Tax Department’s latest press release Direct Tax collection during this financial year has increased 21% and it has reached 4.62 Lakh Crore.
He added it can be much increased from 21% to about 25% in case persons whose income is taxable and not filing returns and do not pay taxes are make assesses and taken into income tax network.
Juneja said the government should make field surveys and take other measures so that such persons should file their returns since tax rates are reasonable in this way their capital will increase which is most essential for business.
