Ludhiana, December 28, 2018: Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal has informed that in view of the Gram Panchayat elections scheduled on December 30, 2018, 156 polling booths have been declared hyper sensitive while 324 as sensitive out of the total polling booths in Ludhiana district.

Mr Agrawal stated that 192 out of total 941 panchayat’s of Ludhiana district have already been chosen unanimously, whereas 226 Sarpanches and 3059 panches in the district have been chosen unopposed. A total of 1806 candidates for the post of sarpanches and 6919 candidates for panches are in fray in Ludhiana district.

He informed that in block Dehlon 20 polling booths have been declared as hyper sensitive and 25 as sensitive, in block Doraha 14 as hyper sensitive and 25 as sensitive, in block Jagraon 5 as hyper sensitive and 20 as sensitive, in block Khanna 7 as hyper sensitive and 28 as sensitive, in block Ludhiana-1 a total of 35 as hyper sensitive and 84 as sensitive, in block Ludhiana-2 a total of 56 as hyper sensitive and 73 as sensitive, in block Machhiwara 10 polling booths have been declared as sensitive, in block Malaud two booths as sensitive, in block Pakhowal 2 as hyper sensitive and 13 as sensitive, in block Raikot 6 as hyper sensitive while 7 as sensitive, in block Samrala 11 as sensitive, in block Sidhwan Bet 4 as hyper sensitive and 10 as sensitive and in block Sudhar 7 polling booths have been declared as hyper sensitive and 16 as sensitive.

He informed that the voting would be held from 8 am to 4 pm on December 30, 2018 and after counting, the results would be declared the same evening. He said that the process of electing 941 Sarpanches and 6391 Panches would be carried out in a peaceful and transparent manner.

Mr Pardeep Kumar Agrawal further informed that there are a total of 941 posts of sarpanches, out of which 181 are reserved for scheduled castes, 181 reserved for scheduled caste (women), 289 reserved for women and 290 for general category candidates. Similarly, out of 6391 posts of panches, 1506 are reserved for scheduled castes, 1027 for scheduled caste (women), 54 for backward classes, 1699 for women and 2105 for general category candidates.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development)-cum-Additional District Election Officer Dr Shena Aggarwal was also present on the occasion.
