Jalandhar, November 24, 2014: Colourfulness, festivity and joy were seen at play in the Annual Cultural Function ‘Rang Punjab De’ of Lyallpur Khalsa College, with performance of traditional Punjabi folk dances, folk songs and other cultural items. On this occasion, the Chief Guest Surjeet Singh Rahkra, Minister of Higher Education and Languages, Punjab honoured the students of the college who contributed to the winning of overall zonal and inter-zonal cultural trophy of the university by their outstanding performance.
Speaking to the present, the Chief Guest said that it was the responsibility of academic institutions to bring out the latent creative abilities of the students, and said that he was impressed with the way the college was performing this responsibility. He congratulated the prize winners on their achievements.
Welcoming the Chief Guest the President of the College Governing Council Balbir Kaur said that the college was making strenuous efforts in educating women. She reiterated the commitment of the college to promotion of Punjabi cultural values along with multifaceted development of the students.
Speaking to the present the college Principal Dr. G.S. Samra informed that Lyallpur Khalsa College had won the overall cultural trophy of the university for the first time and it was the only college in the region to hold sports and cultural trophy of the university the same time. He particularly mentioned the contribution of Swaran Singh and Balbir Singh former Presidents College Governing Council in the development of the college in post-partition times.
Vote of thanks on the occasion was made by Jaspal Singh Waraich, Joint secretary of the College Management. The stage on this occasion was well conducted by Dr. Rashpal Sandhu, dean Cultural activities of the College.
The occasion was witnessed by the distinguished presence of  Jagdeep Singh Shergill, Gurdeep Singh Sangha, Avtar Singh, Ajay Pal Singh Dhillon, Ramanjit Singh (Members Governing Council) and the staff.
