Jalandhar, October 22, 2022: In Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, the Department of Physiotherapy and Commerce celebrated Diwali with great enthusiasm, giving the message of environment protection. 

The Principal of the college, Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra, while congratulating  the staff and students on Diwali, said that we should celebrate pollution-free Green Diwali so that the environment can be kept clean. On the occasion, he gave information about the historical and socio-cultural importance of Diwali. He said that Diwali is a symbol of victory of virtue over evil. This day is also celebrated as Bandichod Day. He said that Diwali is a festival of love, happiness, togetherness, harmony and lights. We should celebrate this festival together without pollution. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Raju Sharma, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, said that it is the need of the hour to celebrate a pollution-free Green-Diwali in view of the increasing pollution day by day. Taking a new initiative, the students of the department planted saplings and also made rangoli. At the end, a skit was also played, giving a message of sympathy towards disabled people. 

Dr. Raju Sharma thanked Principal Dr. Samra, Department of Commerce and Mathematics and all the staff and students for their support in this entire program. He said that we should plant more and more plants to protect the environment so that the environment can be made free from pollution. 

On this occasion, Dr. Rashpal Singh, Head Department of Commerce, Dr. Harjit Singh, Head Department of Mathematics, Dr. Priyank Shardha and teachers and students of various departments were also present.
