Guest lecture to mark the birthday of legendary martyr Bhagat Singh
Centre for Historical Studies, Lyallpur Khalsa College organised a guest lecture to mark the birthday of legendary martyr Bhagat Singh.
Jalandhar, September 28, 2024: Centre for Historical Studies, Lyallpur Khalsa College organised a guest lecture to mark the birthday of legendary martyr Bhagat Singh.
Dr. Manu Sharma from Guru Nanak Dev University was the key note speaker. The event was started with the welcome speech of Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh. He said that life of the martyr taught us to love our motherland, fight against injustice and to work for the upliftment of underprivileged.
Dr. Manu Sharma in her speech said that Bhagat Singh was a voracious reader. He read more than 500 books in a short span of time while undergoing imprisonment. She delved deep into the political cross currents of those times and brought forth two different ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi’s Ahimsa and revolutionary ideology of Bhagat Singh. Prof. Sandeep Singh from Punjabi Department recited a self-composed poem related with the life of Bhagat Singh.
Dr. Suman Chopra, Head of the Department and Co-ordinator of the Centre for Historical Studies delivered vote of thanks and exhorted the students to read like Bhagat Singh and follow his footsteps.
The event was moderated by MA History 3rd semester student Mangaljit Singh.
The lecture was attended by a large number of students and faculty members including Vice Principal Prof. Jasreen Kaur, Registrar Prof. Navdeep Kaur, Prof. Gagandeep Kaur (HoD Geology), Dr. Harjit Singh (HoD Mathematics), Dr. Balraj Kaur, Dr. Jaswinder Kaur, Prof. Satpal Singh, Dr. Manju Joshi, Dr. Pooja Rana, Dr. Anu Kumari. Dr. Ajitpal Singh, Prof. Onkar Sinhg and others.
Department teachers Dr. Amandeep Kaur and Prof. Sandeep Kaur contributed a lot for the successful completion of the lecture.
