Pathankot/Chandigarh, April 12, 2025: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchakk strongly condemned the derogatory remarks made by pro-Khalistani supporter Gurpatwant Singh Pannun against the architect of the Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He called Pannun anti-Punjab and anti-Dalit and emphasized the need to teach him a lesson for his repeated attempts to challenge the nation.
Addressing the media in Pathankot on Saturday, Minister Lal Chand Kataruchakk stated that over the past few years, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has consistently issued statements from foreign soil aimed at harming India’s unity and integrity. This time, by making derogatory remarks against Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Pannun has tried to disturb the peace and communal harmony of Punjab.
His statements have hurt not only the Dalit community but also all those across the nation who believe in the Constitution. Kataruchakk highlighted that through the Constitution, Baba Saheb granted equal legal rights to all citizens and provided opportunities for the upliftment of marginalized and oppressed sections of society. He has always been a source of inspiration for the people of India. Such comments against him reflect Pannun’s vile mentality.
Kataruchakk stated that Pannun harbored the illusion that he could harm the statues of Baba Saheb. On April 14, he will realize the deep respect and love Punjabis have for Baba Saheb. He announced that all Aam Aadmi Party workers and leaders, along with the people of Punjab, will celebrate Baba Saheb’s birth anniversary with great enthusiasm and protect his statues across the state. He added that all preparations for this have been completed at the party level, and related programs will be organized at every district headquarters on April 14.
He further stated that Punjab is the land of saints, revolutionaries, and freedom fighters. The people of Punjab will not be divided by the petty acts and statements of individuals like Pannun. Kataruchakk assured that the AAP government will not allow anyone to disturb the peace of the state. In the past three years, the government has taken strict action against those attempting such disruptions and has sent them to jail.
