Talwandi Sabo, February 18, 2015: Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo organised a seminar on new and renewable energy in the Campus. Dr.G.Giridhar (Director and Head, Solar Radiation Resource Assessment Unit, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt.of India) was the keynote speaker on this occasion. He said that energy management is the point of concern of every nation in the world. As for as this region is concerned we can establish solar energy units for energy, some of the major points to be taken care while establishing the unit are wind speed, temperature and the annual rainfall. He further added that the solar energy assessment unit which is installed at Guru Kashi University can help us to know the input of energy via solar radiation, which is very much beneficial prior installation of the solar energy unit.

Dr. Giridhar stated that educational institutions are best places where such units can be installed and with the help of faculty & students this can be spread to the every part of society. Apart from this he also gave a demonstration of the solar energy radiation assessment lab successfully working at GKU to the staff & students and also appreciated the maintenance of the project by Dr. D.R.Godara and other staff since its installation. Dr. Giridhar also highly acclaimed the correlation of this solar assessment lab to agriculture related issues by Guru Kashi University for the betterment of agriculture.

Dr. N.S. Malhi, Vice Chancellor GKU, lauded the efforts of Dr. D.R. Godara and Dr.  A.S. Sidhu for this fruitful lecture to the staff and students. He also expressed the hope of the expansion of this project to the larger stage.
