Hands in training workshop on essential oil extraction and analysis
Lyallpur Khalsa College organized one day DST sponsored event
Jalandhar, September 29, 2021: A leading educational institution in North India Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, was conducted a hands on training workshop on “Essential oils extraction and analysis”.
On this occasion Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra was the Chief Guest. Dr. Inderjeet Kaur, Co-PI, DST Project on behalf of the college the chief guest Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, Dr Arun Dev Sharma, PI, DST Project, Teachers, welcomed the participants. Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra congratulated the department for this program. Encouraging the students, he explained how science and technology are playing a role in our personal lives. He said that hands on training is very important in the field of science. He also said that researching teachers and students should take advantage of this program. Dr. Arun Dev Sharma, PI, DST Project informed about the importance of Pytho Chemicals. He said in his speech that consumption of herbal products like Tulsi, Essential Oil, Lemon Grass Oil etc. can prevent various diseases. For example, he said that these products have a great contribution in the prevention of deadly diseases like Covid-19 and Black Fungus. All the participants in DST-FIST Lab were given Dr. Narveer Singh and Dr. Bhupinderpal Singh conducted practical sessions with different instruments.
In addition, in the Department of Biotechnology, Dr. Arun Dev Sharma explained the method of extracting oil and its importance. After extracting the oil, to see its antimicrobial activity. Dr. Inderjit Kaur imparted hands on training to the students. Mr. Suraj Agnish, an alumnus of M.Sc. Biotechnology of the college gave information about chromatography analysis. On this occasion, Dr. Inderjeet Kaur, thanked to DST, SEED Govt. of India, Chief Guest Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra and Dr. Arun Dev Sharma. In this program, Dr. Narveer, Dr. Bhupinderpal Singh, Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Dr. Harsharan Singh, Prof. Gobind Ram were also present.
