Chandigarh: A special Webinar was organised for the residents of Panjab University hostels on the topic, happiness in distress, so that they can confront the multiple challenges with the outbreak of covid-19, here today.
The Chief keynote speaker of the Webinar was Dr. Sudesh K. Arya, Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology, Government Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh.
In his session, Dr. Sudesh K. Arya stated that the people in modern world are living with lot of anxiety, fear and uncertainty. Everyone wants to be happy as happiness is key to success but no one knows how to be happy specially in testing situations like Corona times now-a-days. Everyone seems to be scared of future. He elaborated that the Indian culture and ancient scriptures especially Bhagavad Gita gives permanent solutions for such temporary problems. Unfortunately, we have forgotten our culture and we are trying to remain happy by embracing western culture.
Further, Dr. Arya said that most advanced countries in the world are also finding it difficult to come out of such situations. We are trying for physical, mental or intellectual happiness thinking it to be the eternal happiness. But it is flickering happiness. By regulating our life style, good eating habits and following meditation especially mantra meditation, we can control our mind. Thereby, we can rise above bodily platform and by connecting our soul to the Supreme God; we can attain eternal happiness even in distress.
Prof. S.K. Tomar and Prof. Sukhbir Kaur, Deans Student Welfare in their interaction said that on an individual level, it is important to remain happy and healthy by balancing your routine in the best way.
