Harita- Wildlife Week celebrated at Home Science College
The Environment Society- Harita, of Government Home Science College organized Inter-college competitions like Jute Bag Painting and Collage Making to mark the Wildlife Week Celebration sponsored by Dept of Environment, Chandigarh Administration.
Chandigarh, October 1, 2022: The Environment Society- Harita, of Government Home Science College organized Inter-college competitions like Jute Bag Painting and Collage Making to mark the Wildlife Week Celebration sponsored by Dept of Environment, Chandigarh Administration. The theme of the event was "Recovering Key Species for Ecosystem Restoration." The rationale of the event was to raise awareness among the various stakeholders about the dire need for the protection of wildlife to maintain our ecosystem.
The event got an overwhelming response as more than 50 students participated in the competitions. Aligning with the vision and mission of the Indian Wildlife Council, students were informed about the several national parks and wildlife sanctuaries where endangered species are nurtured as well as protected from unnecessary killings.
The Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, applauded the efforts of the participants for their powerful depiction of the importance of Wildlife and the need to conserve and protect it. She further emphasized that students should play a proactive role in sensitizing the community to come together for protecting our wildlife and reiterated that such events go a long way to encourage the masses to save a large number of animals by not killing them for their own food or for other purposes.
