CII Northern Region Announces New Leadership for 2024-25
Leaders from across industries convened today at The Growth Summit to deliberate on India’s trajectory towards becoming a global economic powerhouse. Hosted by CII Northern Region, the summit ignited discussions essential for propelling India towards becoming a global economic powerhouse.
In his address, R Dinesh, President, CII and Chairman, TVS Supply Chain Solutions Ltd emphasized the imperative for India to integrate seamlessly into the global growth narrative. Highlighting key focus areas such as ease of doing business, digital empowerment, and harmonized, equitable growth for MSMEs, he outlined a blueprint for India to emerge as a leader in setting international standards. Furthermore, he stressed the need to shift focus from merely attracting investments to also bringing sovereign wealth into the nation.
Sanjiv Puri, President-Designate and Chairman & Managing Director, ITC Ltd echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the significance of global positioning and competitiveness. He rallied industry stakeholders to identify avenues where they can catalyze change, collaborating with value chain partners and policymakers to nurture robust ecosystems essential for sustained competitiveness.
Building upon this vision, Deepak Jain, Immediate Past Chairman, CII Northern Region and Chairman, Lumax-DK Jain Group emphasized the need to scale-up operations to augment economic value and achieve exponential growth.
Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII in his address, envisioned Indian states as the next frontier of growth, advocating for a concerted effort towards enhancing ease and cost of doing business. He also stressed the importance of adequate investment and capex to trickle down to states that would enable them to be ‘the next growth story in India’.
In a concurrent announcement, CII Northern Region announced Mr Madhav Singhania, Deputy Managing Director & CEO, JK Cement Ltd, and Mr Sunjay Kapur, Chairman, Sona Comstar, as Chairman and Deputy Chairman, respectively, for the 2024-25 term. The proficient incumbents were elected during the first meeting of the newly elected Regional Council members.
Outlining CII Northern Region’s six priority areas for 2024-25, Madhav Singhania, Chairman, CII Northern Region shared his vision for increasing the MSME-Academia connect in the states to amplify the region’s strengths and leverage the new-age opportunities, as reflected from the deliberations at The Growth Summit.
The priority areas mentioned by Singhania were - Policy Advocacy, Growth & Inclusiveness, Water & Sustainability, Membership Engagement, Internationalization, and Competitiveness.
