Ludhiana: Carrying on with its tradition of celebrating significant days and festivals, Harvest International School held a special assembly today at the school auditorium to mark Vaisakhi, one of the most important festivals of North India.

The day began with the beating of the traditional dhol (drum). Later, students assembled in the auditorium to witness a cultural show upholding the values and ethos which characterise this festival.

During the event, students were apprised of the history behind the festival. Giddha and Bhangra folk dances were arranged on the occasion, much to the delight of the students. Students also had the opportunity to dance to drum beats, as the event concluded.

Also known as Baisakhi, Vaisakhi is a spring festival, which marks the solar new year for many regions of our nation. In addition, it is a landmark day for the Sikhs as it marks the anniversary of the founding of the Khalsa Panth, as a collective faith, by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699. Further, the festival marks the start of the harvest season, thereby making it an important festival for the farming community.

Sandeep Singh, Director, and Jay Sharma, Principal, congratulated the students, parents of students as well as members of staff on the occasion.
