Haryana MP Congratulates elected NSUI President at Panjab University

New Delhi/Jalandhar, September 4, 2013:  Haryana Congress Member of Parliament Deepender Hooda has congratulated two leaders of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on their historical victory on the posts of President and Joint Secretary in the student union elections of Panjab University, Chandigarh held here today.

It is for the first time that the candidate of NSUI has registered victory on the post of President in the elections of Punjab University, Chandigarh. After ensuring the victory of NSUI in the Delhi University Student Union Elections consecutively for two years, the Congress Party has entrusted Deepender Hooda, the responsibility of student elections in Punjab University.  Shouldering the responsibility and by taking keen interest, Hooda had prepared a strategy for the victory of NSUI candidates and in this Hooda remained successful.

Hooda who played an instrumental role in the student elections of Panjab University, in his message at social networking site ‘Twitter’ has said that ‘this victory has deep political meaning’. He said that students of Northern India -  Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir have expressed their confidence in the policies of the Congress Party and Vice President of All India Congress Committee  Rahul Gandhi.

NSUI candidate Chandan Rana had got 3599 votes whereas PUSU candidate  Satwant Singh Dedri and SOPU candidate  Amandeep Singh managed to get 2761 and 2285 votes respectively. He defeated his close contender by 838 votes.

For Joint Secretary Post, Sunny Mehta of NSUI defeated his close contender by 50 votes and Vidhi Bhogra of NSUI won the post of Vice President. She defeated Disha Arora of PUSU alliance with a margin of 385 votes.
