Chandigarh, August 19, 2023: In a move to promote safety and empower young girls, the Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad has announced the introduction of self-defense training in government schools across the state. The Rani Lakshmi Bai Ata Raksha Parikshikshan (Self Defense) 2023-24 project, spearheaded by Shastrang Indian Modern Martial Art, will commence in the first week of September.

Grandmaster Bikram S Thapa, the 9th Degree Black Belt General Secretary and CEO of Shastrang Indian Modern Martial Art, revealed the details of the project. The primary objective of the initiative is to motivate and empower girls to protect themselves. "Our aim is to instill confidence and equip girls with the necessary skills to defend themselves," stated Grandmaster Thapa.

To ensure the project's success, approximately 1500 trainers with diverse martial arts backgrounds, including Shastrang, Karate, Taekwondo, Kungfu, Kick Boxing, Wushu, Kalarippayattu, Gatka, and Judo, will be appointed as master trainers. These trainers will play a pivotal role in imparting self-defense techniques to the girls. Grandmaster Thapa emphasized that individuals from any sports background are eligible to apply for the position of master trainer and will receive refresher training under his guidance.

Aspiring master trainers interested in participating in the project can contact Grandmaster Thapa via WhatsApp at 99888 74789. The District Project Coordinator (DPC) and Assistant Project Coordinator (APC) will closely monitor the project's implementation. Master trainers will visit schools and dedicate 1.30 to 2 hours to teach self-defense techniques to the girls.

The launch of self-defense training in government schools throughout Haryana is expected to foster a sense of empowerment, security, and gender equality among young girls. By equipping them with essential self-defense skills, the project aims to instill confidence and encourage active participation in society.

The collaboration between Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad and Shastrang Indian Modern Martial Art represents a significant step towards creating a safer environment for girls in Haryana. Through this initiative, girls will be equipped with the tools to protect themselves and overcome any challenges they may encounter.
