Haseena Malik has had a positive impact on me as a person

Sony SAB has kept the viewers entertained with its light-hearted value driven show Maddam Sir, which was launched earlier this year. ‘Maddam Sir’, with the tagline of ‘Kuch Baat Hai Kyunki Jazbaat Hai’, addresses social issues through the eyes of four dynamic women police officers who take every challenge as it comes and solves cases with jazbaat.  

Show’s pivotal character, Haseena Malik has been beautifully portrayed by Gulki Joshi who continues to receive appreciation and love for her exceptional performance as the Station House Officer (S.H.O) of a Mahila Police Thana.

Detailing her experience in the show so far and sharing her most significant learnings through the character Gulki revealed, “It has been a wonderful experience with Maddam Sir so far. Haseena Malik as a character has had an extremely positive impact on me – ‘Suljha diya hai mujhe’. She is calm, composed and very clear with her thoughts, and I will always carry these qualities in my life. She is by far one of the most distinguished and unique characters of my career, unlike the overly expressive characters we see on television. For me as an artist it was challenging to be so subtle with my performance as even I am really expressive as a person. Haseena is very subtle but immensely impactful. She will always make her presence felt. I think striking this balance while playing this role has made me grow as an actor.”

Talking about her favourite dialogue from the show and revealing a funny anecdote, Gulki said, “My favourite dialogue is when Haseena Mallik starts her sentence with ‘Tajurba kehta hain humara’. Whenever she says that we witness her colleagues who have got bored with her dialogue try to smile somehow and be respectful and I think that situation is hilarious.“

Revealing that one scene from the show that really impacted her, Gulki said, “The scene where Haseena is put behind bars by the same people who at one point supported and respected her had a huge impact on me. It made me connect with the reality and duality of life. It made me realise that ‘sab moh maya hain’.”

Gulki concluded, “Every day I am immensely grateful to be a part of this show and these past few weeks have made me realise the family that Maddam Sir has created among our viewers. I want to thank them for all the love and support they continue to shower on me and our show and I must say it is so good to resume shoot and keep entertaining you as Haseena.”
