Health Minister launches robotic knee resurfacing technique at Ivy Hospital
Punjab Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh launched robo-3D knee resurfacing technique at IVY Hospital, Mohali on Monday. This is the first non-invasive robotic technique with high end use of robotic software and artificial intelligence in North India.
Mohali, September 4, 2023: Punjab Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh launched robo-3D knee resurfacing technique at IVY Hospital, Mohali on Monday. This is the first non-invasive robotic technique with high end use of robotic software and artificial intelligence in North India.
Among others Gurtej Singh the chairman and Dr Kanwaldeep Kaur MD of Ivy Group of Hospitals respectively along with Dr. Bhanu Pratap Singh Saluja, director of orthopaedics & joint replacement at Ivy Institute of Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement were also present during the occasion.
Speaking during the occasion, Dr Balbir Singh said that the Punjab govt is doing all efforts to make the state a ‘Rangla Punjab’. To achieve this, the government is doing every effort to strengthen the health infrastructure at grass root level. The primary and secondary centers along with tertiary hospitals are being equipped with the latest medical facilities so that people can get quality health treatment without any hassles.
After every 5 km there is an Aam Aadmi Clinics that are providing medical facilities to the people.
The government is also focusing on the importance of yoga. Soon we will carry the yoga at each village and mohalla of the state, he maintained.
Replying to a question on the shortage of doctors in the state, he assured to fill vacant posts in a year and half.
Talking about robo-3D knee resurfacing technique Dr. Bhanu said that in this technique only the damaged portion of the knee joint is resurfaced instead of replacing the complete joint with the use of high end robotic software and artificial intelligence. There is less loss of blood and recovery is faster. There is also no ICU stay, no stitches required, patients can walk in 4 hours of surgery and its takes 10-15 minutes of surgical time, he informed.
