Health teams conduct door to door surveys in flood hit areas

On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik, the various teams of health department on Monday conducted door to door surveys in Dhokka Mohalla and several other flood hit areas around Tajpur road affected due to overflowing of Buddha Nullah to check possible spread of water and vector-borne diseases.

Ludhiana, July 17, 2023: On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik, the various teams of health department on Monday conducted door to door surveys in Dhokka Mohalla and several other flood hit areas around Tajpur road affected due to overflowing of Buddha Nullah to check possible spread of water and vector-borne diseases. 

Civil Surgeon Dr Hitinder Kaur said the stagnant water could cause vector and water borne diseases in these areas. She said that health teams carried out a survey of these areas to keep vigil on the complaints of a fever, abdominal pains, vomiting, diarrhoea and other issues. She said that teams also distributed medicines, ORS packets and etc among the residents as a precautionary measure. 

Besides, Kaur said that the department also held special camps in these areas and checked the people. She said that the people were advised about mosquitoes' breeding  on the stagnant water so that these can be destroyed immediately. Also, people were also educated to drink safe water after boiling or chlorination  to reduce the risk of water-borne diseases and if anyone develops fever or diarrhoea, they should seek health care government health facilities including medical camps and should not give self-treatment.
